Operations
Gjerset & Lorenz assists clients with a full
range of operational issues. Our attorneys address providers’
day-to-day questions relating to patient rights, admission
and discharge requirements, patient transfers, confidentiality
of patient information, and fraud and abuse laws. We
represent hospitals, medical groups and individual practitioners
in all aspects of provider licensing, credentialing
and accreditation. Examples of these services include:

Negotiating and drafting contracts
between physicians and providers, including employment
contracts, professional services agreements, directorship
agreements, relocation agreements, management services
agreements, research agreements, and fellowship
agreements in standard and academic medical center
settings.

Preparation and review of policies
and procedures for peer review, quality assurance,
risk management, private investments, charity care,
bad debt collection and compliance with fraud and
abuse laws.

Representation of providers in a
variety of state and federal licensing issues involving
entities ranging from the Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services and state health departments,
to private credentialing agencies such as the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

for tax-exempt hospitals and hospitals receiving
governmental subsidies for indigent care.

accreditation, and compliance with various conditions
of participation.

with a variety of payors, including private, state
and federal payment sources. Our experience in this
regard ranges from representing public and private
institutional providers to ancillary providers to
individual providers.

of contracts between both institutional providers,
and physicians with laboratories, medical transport
providers, imaging centers, pharmaceutical providers,
clinical trials providers and other entities
