Mr. Thorpe is the Vice President of Reimbursement Services for Gjerset & Lorenz, LLP. Mr. Thorpe has worked in the healthcare industry for 30 years. His experience includes several years as a CFO, director of reimbursement at a large teaching hospital as well as three major hospital chains, a national accounting firm healthcare consultant, and a Medicare auditor. As a result of his experience, John has extensive Medicare and Medicaid management and consulting experience in health care financial and operational functions.

- Handled numerous Medicaid DSH appeals for clients, ensuring accurate reporting of data and appropriate DSH awards
- Assisted in developing $100 million Upper Payment Limit funding for Texas Public hospitals
- Increased reimbursement to clients through area Medicare Wage index reviews
- Improved client payments through Medicare Geographic wage index reclassifications
- Performed cost report compliance reviews, identifying areas of concern and opportunity
- Assisted client hospitals in establishing organ transplant programs
