Jared A. Konczal
Jared Konczal is an associate with Gjerset & Lorenz, LLP. Mr. Konczal focuses his practice on counseling healthcare providers on transactional, state and federal regulatory, and reimbursement matters related to Medicaid Waiver payment programs and the implementation, operation, and maintenance of collaborations between public and private healthcare providers.
Mr. Konczal advises hospitals concerning state-directed hospital rate increases through Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (“MCOs”). In this regard, he negotiates and drafts contracts to effectuate rate increases and create ancillary quality improvement incentive arrangements between hospitals and MCOs, and represents hospitals’ interests in discussions with the state Medicaid agency. As part of the rate increase program operations, Mr. Konczal analyzes hospital quality metrics and hospital/MCO remittance detail to calculate the quality incentive bonus pool for each hospital/MCO relationship.
Mr. Konczal also advises hospitals on a variety of other operational and transactional matters. His transactional experience includes drafting lease and management agreements, healthcare provider contracts, and corporate documents associated with non-profit healthcare corporations. As part of his work, he negotiates and drafts contracts between private hospitals and local governmental entities, and between non-profit corporations and healthcare providers, and assists clients with understanding projected financial outcomes of the transactions.
Before beginning his legal career with Gjerset & Lorenz, LLP, Mr. Konczal worked in the research & policy department of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, conducting research on entrepreneurship and innovation policy and managing research grant programs.
